Structural Balance – The Key to Living Pain Free

The human body is composed of two parts: the front (anterior) and the back
(posterior) positions. In these positions, we have muscles that create flexion and extension of our joints. In order for our joints to function correctly, there must be an even distribution from the anterior and posterior side of the body. This is what we call structural balance. Structural balance is extremely important for strength, mobility, reduction of pain, and longevity. Without it, certain muscles will be overused and become “tight” while others will be underused and become weak. It’s these imbalances that lead to back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, tension headaches, along with nerve symptoms such as: burning sensations, tingles, and radiating pain down the arm or leg. These symptoms occur because the body is
out of alignment and our brain is figuring out ways to move without it. In order to achieve structural balance, we must ensure that our kinetic chain is both strong and mobile. The biomechanical assessment at Natera Performance does this. There are main muscles throughout the body that must move in a certain range of motion and each of them have norms that they should be able to get to. During the assessment, we test these muscles’ ranges and if these muscles are tight, this can lead to an imbalance of the body. We also identify any weaknesses of muscles involved in maintaining balance through a variety of tests. If it shows that they are weak, then the priority becomes strengthening those first. It is with this tool, that we are able to design a program tailored to your specific needs. This assessment allows us to identify the root cause of your pain/ weakness. Until identified, treatments, ice/heat, and all of the different modalities provide temporary relief. It
is only when you obtain structural balance, that the relief becomes permanent. Book your assessment today and let’s create permanent change.
